Inspiration

I know it has been some time since I've posted but I had a few things to share.  Thanks to a trip to the Outer Banks the creative juices are flowing.  I had the chance to take a wire wrapping class while at the OBX at a great store called Cloud Nine.  In the past I have been wary of wire wrapping, but thanks to this great class I'm much more confident.

I also have the chance to visit a fantabulous yarn store called The Knitting Addiction.  They have lots of beautiful yarns to see and feel.  There are quite a few patterns you can buy and the examples are hung around the store.  Not to mention the staff is super friendly and will help you with any questions you might have about patterns, yarn, or knitting in general.

Today, I was in Jo-Anns with a few coupons and decided to pick up some clay.  I've never made clay beads before but decided to try it out.  Here are the finished beads.  I still need to add a sealer to create shine and added durability.

Sorry the picture us upside-down, but you get the idea :)

Crochet 101...

Now that I have more free time, I have begun picking up new crafts to incorporate into my jewelry making.  Recently I took a Crochet 101 class with my mom at the local Jo-Ann's.  In the past, I had taught myself how to knit, but I'm beginning to like crochet better.  I bought a book on how to create 100 different crochet flowers and thought this would be a great way to incorporate different elements into my jewelry designs.  If you are a crocheter, my new favorite blog is crochetspot.com.  If you haven't visited, I highly recommend it.

Time is on my side...

Finally I have a chance to blog again.  My life has been very stressful and busy lately.  Now that my schedule has opened up I now have time to craft again.  Recently I have been thinking of adding a few new things to my repertoire.  After finally cleaning my craft room I realized I have a huge amount of scrapbooking stuff.  So, I've decided to create cards to sell.  I'm also thinking about creating hair accessories.  As things progress I'll put up pictures.

Spring is around the corner

Now that we are into March, I have to start looking for craft fairs to peddle my wares.  This also means I need to go through my inventory and see what types of spring/summer items I have or don't have.  I did start working on two new bracelets that are springy and summery.  I'll post pictures when they are complete.  If anyone has suggestions for jewelry, send them my way.

Finished Pieces

I am so happy with myself.  The other night I finally had the time to sit down and finish two necklaces I have been working on for the past few months.  One is the owl necklace and the other is a felt bead necklace in blue, turquoise, and lime green.  Both came out really nice.  They will be up on my Facebook page soon for sale.  Here is a preview of the necklaces.

What was lost is now found...

Good news, my dad was able to pull the stove out from the counter and found the owl pendant I was working on.  I had a chance to mod podge and fill it with ice resin the other day.  Now all I need to do is put the necklace together.  I thought I would give you a little teaser of the necklace by posting a picture of the pendant.  Let me know what you think.

The Perils of Crafting with Cats in the House...

Recently I've been working on creating a new necklace that has an owl theme.  Owls have been really popular recently and I've had a hard time finding just the right materials to make a necklace.  Instead of finding a pre-made pendant I decided to create my own with paper, stamping, and resin.  I decided to work on this pendant in the kitchen instead of my craft room because I needed access to the sink.  After all my cutting, stamping, and coloring I finally had my pendant glued together, it just needed to dry before using Modge Podge and resin.  I let it dry on the counter overnight.  The next day, one of my cats was on the counter batting something around.  I quickly realized it was my pendant, before I could get to him, he knocked the pendant between the counter and the stove.  Hopefully the pendant is OK, I now need to pull out the stove to reach the pendant.

Cross your fingers for me.
